Same Goal Different Name
For a while now we have been tossing around the idea of changing the name of the team to be more area specific. Not that we can't travel (budget permitting) it's just that when we first came up with the name we thought we were very creative......hahaha Rest In Peace. Clever right? WRONG! Even though we were R.I.P of NY, there are others popping up with similar names and it's getting a bit confusing. So after a lot of consideration and feed back from some of you on FB, as of April 1st (no joking) we will officially become E.C.P East Chatham Paranormal.

UCT and EVP
A popular new concept is spreading in the field of paranormal research; it’s called UCT, Universal Consciousness Theory. The definition of UCT, according to Wikipedia, is “the universe exists as an interconnected network of consciousness, with each conscience being linked to the other.” This collective theory, with believers in psychology, philosophy, physics and even religion, and with literature dating back centuries, is now being used to explain the phenomenon of spirit communication in any language. As seen on SyFy Channels series Ghost Hunters International (GHI), during many EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) sessions in foreign speaking countries, frequently the answers come back in English. One could argue that this is in complete opposition with the modern day scientific conjecture that maintains consciousness is a result of the working physical brain. Others argue that we are merely sound matrixing, in which it is believed that the human mind associates audio input as familiar therefore interpreting for us by filling in the rest so to speak. Many others also will argue that it’s all fluffy rainbows and mystical nonsense.
“What do you believe?”
As a delver into the unknown I must admit I’m curious about UCT in association with paranormal research, however I’m floundering on the fence between my excitement of what is possible and actually finding scientific confirmation that ghosts can communicate with out the language barrier. Until there is more tangible evidence, this investigator is undecided and can only hope that with the many paranormal teams out there, soon we will have proof.

EMF, the Paranormal and the Inductive Amplifier
I work for a telephone company. A piece of equipment I use is called an inductive amplifier, (IA). I place a tone generator on a cable and the IA allows me to locate that cable. The tone generator pulses a two tone or oscillating current through the cable and generates a pulsing EMF. The IA picks up this EMF and plays it over a built in speaker. You can hear the tone without touching the wires. What ever is being transmitted over the wire, conversations, tones, etc., using voltage or analog methods, can be picked up by using the IA and the EMF generated.
EMF or electromagnetic field is generated by current flowing through a wire. Many things generate an EMF, including, in theory, a spirit. So I thought why not try my IA from work. If a spirit is manipulating an EMF to speak or manifest, I believe in theory, I should be able to translate that over the speaker. I think it will sound like multiple levels of "buzzing" or maybe even broken speech. Either way it may allow the team to "pin point" a spirit.
I've seen similar devices used, but not exactly the IA I use at work. Who knows, maybe it will produce some great results. Stay tuned and thanks for reading about RIP.

"What if ?"
Recently while watching the History Channel series "The Universe", desperately trying to wrap my brain around what Quantum Physicists call Multi-universe Theory, something clicked. "What if?"
What if we did live in a multi dimensional universe and what we suspect as paranormal activity or ghosts is actually two worlds brushing up against one another.
"Is this possible?"
Thinking back to the episode "Ghostly Conversations" in season 4 of Syfy channel series Ghost Hunters, Jay and Grant uncover some surprising evidence while investigating the Mt Washington Hotel. During their EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) session in room 314, "the Princess Room" not only did they get direct responses to their questions but were asked "Hello is someone there?" and "Of course I'm here. Where are you?" (see "Ghostly Conversations" in Links)
Once again this made me think. Could it be that these crazy multiverse theories are true or "is it something else?"
In the 2001 psychological thriller "The Others" staring Nicole Kidman, the spirits aren't conscious of the fact that they are dead and feel themselves to be the ones haunted. Like the hypothetical idea of parallel worlds they unknowingly co-exist with the "real world". It's when their encounters of unexplained occurrences begin to escalate and their reality begins to unravel they learn the truth of their existence, leaving us at the end asking the question "Is this it?"
Through the years there have been many reports of paranormal encounters, to numerous to ignore and depending on your religious views and what society tells us, many people have an idea, but no one knows the exact answer to "Where do we go when we die?" It is this question and human nature that drives many dedicated Paranormal Research Investigators to finding these answers in the hope that while using scientific methods, someday we may find the proof that there is "Life after death".

Your Not Crazy
There is nothing worse than having unexplained things happening in your home and not being able to tell anyone for fear that people will think your crazy. Thankfully, popular TV series such as Ghost Hunters and other similar shows, more people are talking. From Christians and Wiccans to Agnostics and Atheists more people are open minded to the possibility of ghosts and paranormal research is at an all time high. Whether it's unfinished business or a tradgic death something is keeping them here and people are looking for answers. R.I.P. and other non-profit paranormal investigators, use scientific methods to disprove or prove the existance of ghosts and try to help people in need.
This blog was started to help break down the misconceptions of paranormal investigation and provide a place for people to feel comfortable talking about experiences and beliefs.
